I’ve been feeling the ancestors calling for these last weeks and months. Sometimes,
gently, sometimes insistently - pulling, tugging, urging.
I took a walk through Robert Treman Park glen with a friend last week. It was carpeted
in beautiful spring wildflowers. While we delighted in the majestic waterfalls
and the delicate fleeting blooms, we caught up about family and our lives. She
is an activist and asked me if any insight had come through about what the heck
is going on in our world. What sprang to mind was a phrase and an image that
has buoyed me up over the last weeks and so I thought I’d share it with you
too.
While channeling, what I saw was the image of a landscape where there was a clearing
away of overgrowth, dead and dying trees, and invasive species. What was left
standing were trees with healthy root structures and also space. And in that
space appeared ghostlike blobs of amorphous energy. They were fueled by feeling and were bothparticle and wave. They simultaneously took a nebulous shape in front of me and
yet were also everywhere. It was beautiful and juxtaposed to the visible
structures of the remaining trees. And there was a phrase - the power of the
diffuse.
I am, like you, grieving the loss of so many entities and structures that I cherish.
I recently looked at the President’s FY2026 budget and saw that virtually every
single federal grant that I have worked on in my 30-year career had been axed.
I listened to Voice of America and Radio Free Europe when I was living in
Western and Eastern Europe before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall and I
know what role it played in many people’s lives to keep the flicker and hope of
political freedom alive.
So, entities, structures, and alliances are being chopped down in front of our
eyes. But I keep remembering that phrase and that image, the power of the
diffuse and the arising of the amorphous energy bodies.
Ithought of it when I saw thousands of protests dotted across the country, nay,
the world. Spread out and diffuse, it is very hard to suppress and will ripple
like a wave.
We are not tiny insignificant dots helpless in the face of the onslaught. We are part
of the diffuse and exist in both form and wave.
We are embodiedhuman beings and simultaneously diffuse beings. And there is power in that. Whatever we think, we feel, do, and tap into strengthens the Power of the Diffuse.
Right now, it’s challenging for spiritually inclined empaths (or highly sensitive
people) who are feeling the collective fear and the collective angst. It
certainly doesn't feel so good to me some days. And so, it’s helpful to
remember that we are both body and wave.
While we can sense the embodied human collective feelings, we can also sense the unseen,
the ancient, the eternal, the ancestors, and the timeless. We are not just dots
on the planet, we are also beacons and transmitters of the waves of the cosmos.
Yes, we exist here and now, embodied, but we also exist cosmologically and can give
voice to the wisdom of the ancestors. I think that is why I, and maybe you too,
are feeling the ancestor’s energy right now. We are their legacy, their point
of contact, and their creative potential here and now.
May we honor that in ourselves and others. May we be gentle and compassionate with
ourselves when our human feelings are sore. And may we delight in the pulse of
the cosmos as it flies through us and guides us with its gentle whispers in the
dance of life. New entities will arisethrough us – and with grace, will be ones that honor all life as sacred.
Peace
